Claresholm has been an agricultural beacon for cattle ranchers since the early 1880’s. Homesteaders from across the foothills were drawn to lush grasslands and the railway siding that would provide the centre for their community. These served as the foundation for sustaining the agricultural lifestyle that benefited all who settled here. Today we see the groundwork from our ancestors evolve as our town continues to develop and grow.
Located South of Calgary on Highway 2, Claresholm boasts the accessibility of being positioned one hour from both Calgary and Lethbridge. As a primary transportation corridor in Alberta, Claresholm is a leading service center with a variety of amenities and diverse hospitality choices. Our primary business sectors in Claresholm include agriculture and ranching, public health care services, retail, hospitality and oil and gas trades. The town of Claresholm is an ideal location and accommodates vacationers and residents alike who appreciate small town living with the convenience that a city center has to offer.

Claresholm Library:
Our Claresholm library is named after Louise C. McKinney, the first woman parliamentarian in the Commonwealth. We are proud that she lived in and contributed to our community. Our library is a great common space to meet and to enjoy its extensive collection.
