Claresholm has been an agricultural beacon for cattle ranchers since the early 1880’s. Homesteaders from across the foothills were drawn to lush grasslands and the railway siding that would provide the centre for their community. These served as the foundation for sustaining the agricultural lifestyle that benefited all who settled here. Today we see the groundwork from our ancestors evolve as our town continues to develop and grow.
Located South of Calgary on Highway 2, Claresholm boasts the accessibility of being positioned one hour from both Calgary and Lethbridge. Our Claresholm library is named after Louise C. McKinney, the first woman parliamentarian in the Commonwealth. We are proud that she lived in and contributed to our community. Our library is a great common space to meet and to enjoy its extensive collection.
